Notably, the conflicts in Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Myanmar, and the war in Ukraine continue to be major drivers, along with escalating violence in Haiti.
Key stats show that 1 in every 67 people globally is now displaced, with 87% of them hosted by low- and middle-income countries. The numbers have surged by 5.3 million since 2023, underscoring the scale and urgency of the crisis. With over 43.7 million refugees alone, the report highlights the long-term displacement situation many refugees face: two-thirds have been displaced for over five years.
The crisis is a call to action for greater global support, both to aid displaced populations and to help host countries manage the growing influx.

More information here: UNHCR Mid-Year Report

The UNHCR’s 2024 Mid-Year Trends report reveals that forced displacement worldwide has reached a new peak, with over 122.6 million people displaced by mid-2024 due to ongoing conflicts, persecution, and human rights abuses.
