AFRIW means wing in the Berber language.
Our organisation was founded to lend wings to those who need them most and to help them spread their wings – that is, to protect and empower.

Mission
Empowering women, promoting peace, and safeguarding human rights, AFRIW is committed to creating a world where every individual thrives in safety and equality. Our mission is to create lasting positive change, standing up to the rights of all and contributing to a more peaceful and equitable global society.

Vision
Envisioning a world of universal human rights, lasting peace, and gender equality, AFRIW is dedicated to creating a harmonious global community. We aspire to end discrimination and violence, ensuring that all people are empowered and treated with dignity. We aim to contribute to a future where all individuals live in peace, enjoying their rights and opportunities without prejudice or fear.

Our approach
Championing Human Rights for All
At AFRIW, our approach to human rights is grounded on the belief that every individual, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances, deserves to live with dignity, freedom, and equality. We are dedicated to building a world where human rights are upheld, safeguarded, and realised for all. Our work is shaped by a strategic and comprehensive approach that integrates advocacy, education, direct support, and collaboration.
What we do
Our work centres on advancing human rights, inclusive leadership, and social justice. We are dedicated to empowering women* and girls*—strengthening their role in all areas of public life, including foreign policy, advocacy, and peacebuilding. Our work encompasses inclusive leadership, advocacy, and protection, including efforts to combat exploitation and human trafficking, as well as support for grassroots NGOs and local communities.
