Themes

AFRIW means wing in the Berber language. Our organisation was founded to lend wings to those who need them most and to help them spread their wings – that is, to protect and empower.

We focus in particular on the empowerment of women* and girls* and the strengthening of the role of women* in political, social and cultural life, in fields such as: foreign policies, advocacy, peace and conflict studies and peace mediations/negotiations, especially through educational, social and leadership programmes. We promote feminist foreign policy, which means we believe that gender equity and equal participation are preconditions for long-term peace and security.
